The 2022 Asia Cup (otherwise called DP World Asia Cup for sponsorship reasons) is the fifteenth version of the Asia Cup cricket competition, with the matches being played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20s) during August and September 2022 in the United Arab Emirates.Originally booked to be held in September 2020, the competition was deferred in July 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was then rescheduled to happen in Sri Lanka in June 2021, preceding being delayed to once more. Pakistan was booked to have the competition in the wake of holding the freedoms to have the 2022 release. Notwithstanding, in October 2021, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) declared that Sri Lanka would have the competition in 2022, with Pakistan facilitating the 2023 edition.India are the reigning champs.

On 21 July 2022, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) informed the ACC that they wouldn't be in that frame of mind to have the competition because of the financial and political emergency in the country. On 27 July 2022, the ACC affirmed that the competition would be played in the United Arab Emirates, with Sri Lanka Cricket filling in as the competition's hosts. In December 2018, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were conceded the freedoms to have the competition by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). In any case, it was hazy if the matches will be played in Pakistan or the United Arab Emirates. After the declaration was made, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) mentioned that the PCB change the occasion's scene because of continuous security concerns. Pakistan last held a multi-group global competition in 2008, with the 2008 Asia Cup. From that point forward, just a small bunch of global matches have occurred in Pakistan following the 2009 assault on the Sri Lanka public cricket crew.

In May 2019, the ACC affirmed that Pakistan will have the competition. The choice to have the competition in Pakistan raised questions over India's cooperation, with the continuous political strain between the two countries. In October 2019, the choice to have the competition in Pakistan was still to be concurred by the ACC, because of questions raised over India's participation. In January 2020, different media sources detailed that Pakistan wouldn't have the competition, because of their continuous political pressures with India.

On 28 February 2020, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly expressed that "the Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and the two India and Pakistan will play. The next day, Ehsan Mani Chairman of the PCB, went against Ganguly's assertion, saying that the scene has not been finished, Initially, The ACC was planned to meet on 3 March 2020 to examine the area of the competition, however the gathering was moved back for the rest of March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. On 7 March, Mani said that the competition would be played at a nonpartisan setting. The next month, he conceded that the competition may not occur by any means because of the pandemic.

In June 2020, following a gathering with the ACC, the PCB said they might want to allow Sri Lanka to have the competition, with India reluctant to make a trip to Pakistan. The ACC gave a public statement following the gathering expressing that "considering the effect and results of the COVID-19 pandemic, conceivable scene choices for the Asia Cup 2020 were examined and taking a ultimate conclusion at the appointed time was chosen". In July 2021, an authority declaration of the deferment was made by the ACC. In March 2021, the competition was in danger of a further delay after India qualified for the last of the World Test Championship, which conflicted with the proposed dates in June.

The qualifier competition had been delayed in July 2020. In May 2021, the ACC affirmed that there would be no Asia Cup in 2021, with that version of the competition conceded until 2023. In October 2021, following a gathering with the ACC, that's what ramiz Raja affirmed

Pakistan would have the accompanying competition in 2023, with Sri Lanka facilitating the 2022 edition.A capability competition was played in August 2022.

On 17 July 2022, because of the financial emergency in Sri Lanka and mass fights the nation over, the Secretary of SLC Mohan de Silva expressed that the competition will be facilitated in the United Arab Emirates.
