 River Water Intake System (RWIP): 2 x 100% (Pontoon Pumps)

➢ Ensure the minimum 800 mm water level below the foot valve. Total water level should 

be 2500 MM. 

➢ Ensure River Water Intake System (RWIP) priming pump discharge line manual isolation 

valve should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure River Water Intake System (RWIP) discharge line vent valve should be in open 

condition. 

➢ Ensure the River Water Intake System (RWIP) priming pump suction line to be filled with 

water. 

➢ Ensure the River Water Intake System (RWIP) discharge line is filled with water. 

➢ Ensure field clearance and then give start command to primary pump from local panel.

➢ Ensure the River Water Intake System (RWIP) discharge line proper venting is done. Stop 

the priming pump, close vent valve and priming pump discharge valve.

➢ Close the River Water Intake System (RWIP) discharge butterfly valve. 

➢ Ensure River Water Intake System (RWIP) header line manual isolation butterfly valve, 

motorized operated valve, control station should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure the Pre-Treatment Plant is in operation. 

➢ Ensure the High Rate Solid Contact Clarifier (HRSCC) inlet and outlet manual isolation 

valve should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure the Forebay level control station should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure the clearance from DM Plant operator and give start command from local panel. 

Open the pump discharge valve and check pump pressure. 

• River Water Intake System (RWIP): 2 x 100% (Vertical Pumps)

➢ Ensure the River Water Sump level below the foot valve. (minimum 3000 MM) 

➢ Ensure River Water Intake System (RWIP) discharge line manual isolation butterfly valve 

should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure River Water Intake System (RWIP) column vent valve should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure the River Water Intake System (RWIP) sluice gate should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure the River Water Intake System (RWIP) discharge line is filled with water. 

➢ Ensure River Water Intake System (RWIP) header line manual isolation butterfly valve, 

motorized operated valve, control station should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure the Pre-Treatment Plant is in operation. 

➢ Ensure the High Rate Solid Contact Clarifier (HRSCC) inlet and outlet manual isolation 

valve should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure the Forebay level control station should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure the clearance from DM Plant operator and give start command from local panel. 

Open the pump discharge valve and check pump pressure. 

➢ Close the River Water Intake System (RWIP) column vent valve after venting.


Step#2

Auxiliary Cooling Water Pump(ACW):

Ensure Discharge Line is filled with water and venting of the system has been done.

➢ Ensure minimum 1 No. of riser motorized operated valve (MOV) is in full open condition.

➢ Ensure 1 No. Debris Strainer inlet and outlet manual isolation should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure 1 No. Plate Heat Exchanger Auxiliary Cooling Water Pump (ACWP) line inlet and 

outlet manual isolation valve should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure Gas Booster Compressors (GBCs), Vacuum Pumps & Instrument Air Compressor 

(IACs) Auxiliary Cooling Water Pump (ACWP) line inlet and outlet manual isolation valve 

should be in open condition.

➢ Ensure the Auxiliary Cooling Water Pump (ACWP) discharge motorized operated valve 

(MOV) should be in auto mode.

➢ Ensure Thrust Bearing Cooling water line inlet and outlet line ball valve in open condition.

➢ Ensure the Column Vent Manual isolation valve should be in open condition

➢ Ensure the field line up clearance and start permissive of the pump and then go for the 

pump starting process.

Finally start the pump by giving start command and observe the discharge MOV will open 

and pressure will build up.

➢ Ensure the Auxiliary Cooling Water Pump (ACWP) current, pressure, temperature, and 

vibrations should be in normal condition.

➢ Ensure all the pump and discharge MOVs are in auto logic mode and Select the Main,

primary and secondary pump. 

➢ Following are Pump Override Trip Conditions.


Step#3

Instrument Air Compressor 

Instrument Air Compressor (IAC): 2 Working & 2 Standby (Running 1 GD & 1 Atlas Copco) 

➢ Ensure Auxiliary Cooling Water line inlet and outlet manual ball valves should be in open 

condition.

➢ Ensure Discharge line manual ball valve should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure 1 No. Dryer from Atlas Copco and GD inlet and outlet valves should be in open 

condition. 

➢ Ensure 1 No. Dryer from Alta s Copco and GD should be in running condition. 

➢ Ensure Receiver inlet and outlet manual ball valves should be in open condition. 

➢ Ensure Instrument Air Compressor (IAC) should in remote condition. 

➢ Ensure the main standby loading and unloading setpoints of Instrument Air Compressor 

(IAC).

➢ Ensure clearance to be taken from field before starting of Instrument Air Compressor 

(IAC). 

➢ Give start command from DCS to all Instrument Air Compressors (IAC) One by One. 

➢ Ensure the Instrument Air Compressor (IAC) Temperatures & Differential pressures in local display.


Step#3

Demineralized Water (DM) transfer pump: 2 x 100%

Ensure Demineralized Water (DM) transfer pump manual isolation suction & discharge

valve should be in open condition.

➢ Ensure minimum recirculation line manual isolation valve should be open to both DM 

tanks.

➢ Ensure Emergency Push Button (EPB) is in release condition. 

➢ Ensure all permissive are available to start the pump as required.

➢ Ensure Hot-well makeup control valve station, CCW tank makeup station, Vacuum pump 

separator tank makeup, before and after manual isolation valve should be in open 

condition and bypass manual isolation valve should be in closed condition. 

➢ Ensure manual isolation valve to HGP, to DM plant chemical lab is in closed condition and 

can be opened whenever there is a requirement of DM water.

Following are pump override trip conditions.

Step#4

Closed Cooling pump (CCWP): two x 100 percent

Ensure Closed Cooling pump (CCWP) Suction Isolation valves ought to be in open 

condition.

➢ guarantee Closed Cooling pump (CCWP) enlargement tank level ought to be in traditional 

condition. (1000MM - 1300MM) 

➢ guarantee turbine lubricate Oil Plate device, turbine Generator, Gas 

Turbine lubricate Oil Plate device, turbine Generator, turbine management Oil,
